Of particular importance to many of our clients is knowing how many images their album comes with. Using our handy dandy 2.5 images per page rule of thumb multiplied by 60 pages you would expect to comfortably fit 150 images into this album. "How about 180 images, or 250 images?" we often get asked. Can we put more in, after all isn't more better?
The two ends of the spectrum for a magazine album are compelling and tedious. A sixty side layout magazine album jammed packed with images is very tedious to look at. Look at the layout above. There is one image over two pages. It's a compelling image. Would it be better if we put seven more romantic images inside the dark corners?
This sixty side layout is a great opportunity to showcase stellar images. If you had 100 images in a layout that had a dozen to two dozen stellar images you go much further than if you had these same images, plus another 80 more in your album.
If your first impulse is to think "Hey, I'm not having a 500 guest wedding with 25 people in my bridal party, I don't need such a large album." You may want to think twice. A lovely 120 guest wedding with a ten member bridal party may fill this book up nicely if you have a nice place to get married at and invest the time to make quality images.

Recently we went to one of our former bride's houses and we found her wedding album sitting on the coffee table in her living room. Her layout was great, and her album was fabulous. However, it came with a solid black cover. The first thought that came to mind was "Hmmm, kinda boring." You can't judge a book by it's cover, or so they say. But, what if the cover was an extreme leather, and was electrifying and exciting? What if everybody who walked into the room looked at it and asked "What's that?" "Can I see it?" It would be a focal point of the room, a conversation piece, and less likely to be a drink coaster.
This option is thrown around a lot by other studios, so let's look at this option a little more carefully. Who exactly is the second photographer that everybody keeps talking about? Sounds like a good thing, right? More cameras clicking means more and better photos? Not exactly. These second photographers are often a crutch that poor primary wedding photographers use to take on a wedding. The second photographer hopefully will capture all the images that the photographer misses, at least that's the plan. These second photographers tend to be friends of the photographer, and really have little experience. They are WBWCs (Warm bodies with cameras). The gear they use often is the backup gear of the primary photographer Thus if something breaks the second photographer will end up sitting in the corner of the reception until it's time to go home. Are they going to do anything better than your guest can do? Most often the answer is no. Are they going to do anything worthy of the expense of the meal you're going to provide them? Nope. This is how they are often talked into coming to your wedding "Dude, you should come to my wedding next week and be a second shooter. I'll give you $75, the bride is cute and I'm sure there are a lot of hotties! Free food! Open bar!"
When we bring second shooters to a wedding, it's with the understanding that they are capable of handling the entire wedding by themselves if they need to. They have skills and need to be paid well for these skills. They won't be drinking at your open bar, they won't be hitting on your bridesmaids and cute girlfriends. They show up to work and to create images that matter. They will go off on their own and create other images the primary photographer isn't capturing.
The 8 hour shifts often work well because if you structure your day right you can get 12 hours of coverage with four hours of overlapping coverage
Note, you can get either 2 photographer coverage, or two parent albums , please choose one option.
Offering parent albums in sets is difficult. Sometimes you need just one album, other times you need three albums. So, when we offer two, yes you can get add more albums or remove albums depending upon your situation. The standard size is 5x5 and the albums can get larger in physical size for a larger price, and we've got some different options we can share with you.
